Royal wedding at the Raj Palace in Jaipur

A wedding is the most auspicious moment in ones lives. The great city of Jaipur, where royal families of the past used to celebrate their weddings, offers a lot to make your wedding a great celebration and truly royal.

Acknowledged as he world's best heritage hotel the Raj Palace is a grand heritage hotel and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The hotel was voted as “World's Leading Heritage Hotel" by the World Travel Awards consecutively from 2007 - 2010.

The Raj Palace is built on a sprawling complex is a testimony to the skills of master craftsmen. All buildings contain Rajasthani arts like frescos, hand painted work and stone carving among others. The service is as good as the ambience - royal in every way. The Raj Palace, the oldest haveli of Jaipur is owned and managed by the royal family of Chomu.

Day 01: Royal welcome at Raj Palace

You will be received by our staff at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Upon arrival at Raj Palace, all the wedding guests are given a traditional ceremonial welcome with showering of rose petals at the main palace entrance – the Ganesha Dwar. Nagadas and shehnai music will create a mellow festive atmosphere. Decorated camels, horses or elephants are stationed at the entrance to welcome you at the hotel. A traditional Rajasthani welcome dance will also be organized at the hotel compound.

Darbar Lunch:
It is an age-old tradition in Rajasthan to sit on floor to have meals as India’s yogic saints have found this kind of seating very healthy for digestion and also gives more opportunity for a larger gathering to enjoy meals together.The royal families also followed this tradition by making the meal setup rich and lavish by using special silver cutlery & crockery (thali), colorful low height tables (bajot) and special pillows for backrest.
Gala Darbar Dinner:
Gala Durbar dinner is the special theme of the Raj Palace where the guests are accorded with a grand welcome. The venue is specially decorated with flowers. The dinner is accompanied with folk dance entertainment by internationally renowned artists and interactive dances of guests. The entertainment program is concluded with a pectacular show of fireworks and a traditional marionette show.

Day 02: Day before “the Day”

Day 2 starts with a scrumptious breakfast at the Durbar Hall and after that you will enjoy leisure and relaxation in the hotel till lunch.

Shamiana Lunch:
The Shamiana Lunch is the special theme where the guests are accorded a grand welcome with different entertainment items at four different areas to finally reach the Maharani Bagh lawns where the royal shamiana is laid for them. Shamianas are special royal tents which are a specialty of Jaipur. These tents take days to be erected and decorated. The guests sit on specially laid tables and chairs with covers, frills and ribbons from where they watch the entertainment programs and enjoy them by dancing themselves.
Indian Mehandi Night:
Mehendi nights are an integral part of an Indian wedding and is a widely followed tradition. It packs in much excitement, fun and mirth and is eagerly celebrated by the families and friends of the bride and the groom. It is generally believed that the deepening of the colour of mehendi (henna) on the palm and feet of the girl indicates the colour and love that is to come in her life. During the course of the event the girl is showered with blessings and best wishes for a happy conjugal life.

As the evening starts the guests prepare for the Mehandi Night and the excitement grows. Rangolis - floor paintings with flowers are made at the entrance of the Darbar Hall. Fairy lights are thrown over shrubs and the torches are lit up. Local artists perform their welcome dance.

Royal Gala Durbar Dinner:
The Royal Gala Durbar Dinner is the royal theme dinner of the Raj Palace where the guests are accorded with a royal welcome followed with welcome drink. The venue is decorated with special flower decorations & illuminations. We have one of the finest nationally renowned folk artists who perform with their troupe of folk dancers and singers.

Day 03: Wedding Day

Finally, your big day has come! Your special day starts with a grand breakfast followed by short site seeing tour and lunch at Swapana Mahal.After lunch all guest are asked to get ready for evening wedding.
Baraat, the wedding procession: The wedding party of the bridegroom arrives with stunning tableau of elaborately caparisoned regalia of elephant, camels, lines of soldiers on horses, a band of musicians, men holding oil torches in an environment of pomp and color.

The guests lead to the entrance of the palace in the form of a procession where they are received by the waiting bride's family amidst flower petals and sprinkling rose water. A traditional Baraat welcome is held. The bridegroom, dressed in Rajasthani wedding attire carrying a sword, arrives along with wedding party on an elephant.
The royal wedding function is held at Charbagh Lawn in combination to the Diwan-E-Aam (reception hall) where the reception stage is made. The center chaupar is covered with flower rangoli where the var mala ceremony- the main wedding function is held with showering fireworks. The palace back drop is the best memory that can be preserved; the dinner is arranged in the Charbagh Garden.

Var Mala and Pheras:

The bride enters from the front stairs of palace and the groom enters from the opposite side. They climb the Chaupar decorated with flowers and exchange var malas – beautiful hand made and heavy flower necklaces. The Pheras – 7 religious chants - are performed under a pavilion by the priest.

Day after the wedding

All guests who want to return home will be dropped at the airport and for the newlyweds a special honey moon trip is arranged according to their wishes and interest.
